Whether you live in Dallas, Texas or are simply planning a visit, you might be wondering which types of sporting events you can attend while you are in the area. Fortunately, there are plenty of things to see and do in Dallas, and attending and enjoying sporting events is one of them.

First of all, you have probably heard of the Dallas Cowboys if you are a football fan. The Dallas Cowboys are a very popular team, and a lot of people who live in Dallas and its surrounding areas are very loyal to their team.I found some more information here. You can even attend a football game at the Cowboys stadium if you want to. College and high school football are both highly enjoyed by those who live in the area as well.

Football isn’t the only sport that is enjoyed in Dallas, however. If you enjoy basketball, consider attending a Dallas Mavericks game. You can also watch the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs. Baseball is also very popular in the area, and there are two major league baseball teams in Texas, as well as many popular high school and college teams. Horse racing, ice hockey and other sports are enjoyed as well.

If you are looking for the places in and around Austin to fill your belly then you are going to want to really bring your appetite. I have a list of the top places in Austin to eat so get off the Facebook, MySpace, www.energysavings.com/, or whatever else and get ready to take your taste buds on a tour of the Lone Star state.

Here are just a few suggestions to get you hungry:

1. Cisco’s Restaurant, Bakery, and Liar’s Club – This hole in the wall diner does food right. Don’t let the outside fool you, it’s what’s inside that counts and the food that you will be putting in your body here is some of the best in Texas.

2. Salt Lick – Kind of a strange discovery to make out here in Texas, but this South Carolina style barbecue holds its own all the same with fantastic cuts of meat smeared in a mustard-like coating and cooked over an open pit.

3. The Frisco Shop – If you ever wondered what a truly fresh hamburger tastes like then you won’t be disappointed here. These patties are made from scratch and just for you.

And that is just to get you started. However, Texas is a big state and I haven’t nearly scratched the surface, but you’ll have to see them for yourself. All this talk of food has made me hungry so I’m out.

The Museum of Nature and Science, located in Fair Park, offers a wide range of activities and exhibits. Children can enjoy learning about dinosaurs, agriculture and physical science on a level they can understand. For adults, exhibits range from the human body to paleontology to understanding DNA. Regardless of your age or particular interests, The Museum of Nature and Science is worth visiting. Located at Dealy Plaza in downtown Dallas, The Sixth Floor Museum has exhibits that feature photographs, videos and other multimedia detailing the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. When visiting The Sixth Floor Museum, you have the opportunity to step back in time and relive history. While conspiracy theories abound surrounding the assassination of JFK, The Sixth Floor Museum has several artifacts and film from local citizens on display.

Whether you are interested in how things work, dinosaurs or the life and death of an American President, Dallas has a museum to suit your individual needs and desires. Both centrally located and affordably priced, a visit to Dallas would not be complete without visiting these interesting establishments.

Dallas, a large city in Texas, was first inhabited by Native Americans during the 1500s, but was considered to be owned by the Spanish. This area remained under Spanish control until the early 1800s, when Mexico took control of it. In 1836, it broke free from Mexico and became an independent country. In 1856, a town charter was granted to the city of Dallas, making it an official city. During this year it elected its first Mayor, Samuel Pryor.
Dallas went through a period called the Industrial Period; where it became a place for farming and ranching. By the late 1800s, the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad was in operations, as well as the Dallas Zoo and the Parkland Memorial Hospital. During the early 1900s, Dallas was the center of trade in the cotton industry and the 11th branch of the Federal Reserve Bank was built there.
During the 1930s, oil was struck causing Dallas Texas to be in the oil industry. Dallas continued to grow through various types of industries, including factories producing many types of goods. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963 while riding through Dallas in his motorcade. Today, Dallas is the third largest city in Texas and has a population around 1.2 million.
